Feds raid Republican donor’s home; The lawsuit alleges that he did not return millions of euros

NAPLES, Fla. — A day after federal agents raided two properties of conservative businessman Alfie Oakes, newly released court documents accuse the popular MAGA Republican of defaulting on millions of dollars in loans.

According to neighbors, there was an intense scene in Oakes’ neighborhood when agents from several federal agencies showed up in unmarked cars outside his home in Naples, Florida.

Law enforcement also showed up at Oakes’ packing plant in Immokalee.

The lawsuit accuses Alfie Oakes of failing to pay millions of euros during the raid on his home in Naples

The US Department of Defense’s Office of the Inspector General confirmed that its DCIS agents were performing law enforcement activities at Oakes’ properties in coordination with the IRS and the Secret Service.

However, neither agency has revealed the exact reason.

Court documents reveal that Farm Credit of Florida filed a civil complaint against Oakes and his wife last month, accusing them of defaulting on parts of a $4 million loan. The complaint said Farm Credit had the right to foreclose on the property if the loan wasn’t repaid, though it remains unclear whether that financial dispute was the trigger for the recent federal action.

John Meo, chairman of the Collier County Republican Executive Committee, spoke with Oakes following the raid.

‘Official Business’: Federal agents raid Alfie Oakes’ North Naples home

Meo expressed his disappointment at the conduct of the raid – describing it as excessive.

“It’s not a good look for America when you have five or six agencies showing up at someone’s place of business or home,” Meo said. “The crime is that he has to go through this process and it wasn’t done the way it would normally be done. You don’t have these three-letter agencies coming to your door like you’re a mass murderer,” Meo added.

Oakes declined to provide immediate comment to reporters, saying only “Go Trump” when approached near his home in Naples. Meo expressed confidence that Oakes would “get on top” of the situation.

“Alfie is very well versed in adversity, having been in so many different businesses and it was good; it will be good,” Meo added.

Scripps News South Florida reached out to Oakes and the Florida Farm Credit attorney for additional statements, but did not hear back by Friday afternoon.
