Human trafficking, sextortion and prostitution arrests in Mecosta County

MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich. — A multi-jurisdictional task force has arrested two men on sex-related charges.

Mecosta County Sheriff Brian Miller made the announcement Monday at noon.

On Friday, the task force conducted an operation in Rogers Heights in Mecosta Township, targeting consumers of human trafficking, sextortion and prostitution. The operative group was made up of members of Mecosta County Sheriff’s OfficeTHE Newaygo County Sheriff’s OfficeTHE Montcalm County Sheriff’s OfficeTHE Osceola County Sheriff’s OfficeTHE Big Rapids Department of Public SafetyTHE Ferris State University Police Department and the Mount Pleasant Department of Public Safety.

Upon completion of the operation, two men were arrested:
* Erik Lundquist, 53, of Comstock Park was arrested for soliciting and approaching a minor under 16 years of age. While in contact with officers, Lundquist was also arrested for operating while intoxicated. He was taken to the Mecosta County Jail, posted bail and is awaiting his next court date.

*A 48-year-old Grand Rapids man was arrested for soliciting prostitution of persons 18 and older. He is awaiting arraignment.

The working group was assisted by Central Consolidated Dispatch Authority Meceola and Curries Towing.

Miller said all the decoys used in the operation were adults and no children were involved or injured.
