Police respond after owner accidentally takes python to Chili’s

Police encountered an unusual scene when they saw a python slithering in the parking lot of a Chili’s restaurant on November 5 in Shallotte, North Carolina.

Officers responded to the report of a large snake near Chili’s.

Shallotte police officers recovered the snake and posted photos on its official Facebook page to notify the owner of the pet that the pet has been picked up.

Christina Schiel was reunited with her python, Una, at a local animal shelter.

Schiel, who said WECT-TV in North Carolina on Nov. 6 that the python may have hidden in her car and possibly got out of the car while she was at Chili’s.

The pet’s owner added to the news station that Una had minor injuries and was a little dehydrated, but is doing well.

WECT reported that pythons are legal pets in North Carolina.
