Ben Campbell: Teenager appears in court charged in Fort William murder | UK news

A teenager has appeared in court accused of murdering a “much loved” man.

Ben Campbell, 25, died in an incident at a property in Fort William’s Grange Road at around 9.55pm on Thursday.

In a statement sent by the Police ScotlandMr Campbell’s family said: “Ben was a much loved brother, son and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.”

A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with Mr Campbell’s death.

Dominiks Andrejevs, 19, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court on Monday where he pleaded not guilty to two separate charges of murder and burglary.

Andrejevs, of Fort William, was remanded in custody and is due back in the dock within the next eight days.

Following Mr Campbell’s death, Detective Inspector Calum Reid said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this difficult time and our officers will support them as the investigation continues.

“I am aware that this incident will be of concern to the local community but I would like to reassure the public that extra patrols are in the area as part of the ongoing investigation and there is no greater threat to the community.”
