YWCA of Alexandria-Pineville honors six women for community achievements in the workplace

According to a release from the organization, the YWCA of Alexandria-Pineville honored six distinguished women, one from each decade from the 1920s through the 1970s, at its 12th annual Decades of Women Luncheon, held Thursday at Alexandria Convention Hall.

“Today we held our 12th annual Decades of Women Luncheon and celebrated six incredible women from six different decades who are making a lasting impact in Central Louisiana,” said YWCA of Alexandria Executive Director Marle Chapman. “They do it all – excel in their careers, feed their families and still find time to give back to our community.”

Each honoree chooses excellence and achievement in the community and the workplace, and the rollout continues. The women were nominated by community members and selected by the YWCA Board of Directors.

“It is an honor to be celebrated today with all of these outstanding community leaders,” said Caroline Beard, who was selected as a Distinguished Woman of the Year 20. “Working in healthcare is my passion and I am so grateful for Rapides Regional Medical Center for allowing me to serve the people of Central Louisiana. Thank you YWCA for this award – I am humbled and grateful.”

“This award honors the legacy of female resilience, determination and unwavering pursuit of progress and volunteerism,” said Amarjit Pillarisetti, Distinguished Woman of the 70s. “We will work for a world where all countries are connected and our diversity is understood and accepted.”
