KUWAIT CITY, Nov 11: Dasman Diabetes Institute has reduced diabetes medication for patients by 50% through its Overcoming Diabetes Program, guided by a specialized medical team, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Acting General Director Dr. Faisal Al-Rifai emphasized that this achievement reflects the institutes’ commitment to scientific research, advanced diabetes care and preventive awareness initiatives.

Dr. Al-Rifai emphasized that the institute’s integrated research approach explores the complex mechanisms of diabetes, using modern data to better understand the chemical, immunological and genetic factors that influence the disease. This year alone, Dasman has published 92 studies in peer-reviewed journals, contributing significantly to knowledge of the causes, complications and treatments of diabetes.

Kuwaiti researchers at the institute have excelled in the field, garnering recognition and awards. The institute has also received patents for its pioneering research and is coordinating with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Talent and Creativity to continue its innovations. Furthermore, the institute has received prestigious international accreditations, including diamond level from the Canadian Accreditation Authority and recognition from the International Diabetes Federation, marking it as one of four centers of reference in the Middle East and North Africa.
It is also accredited by the American Heart Association, the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the American College of Pathology, strengthening its regional and international reputation.

At the national level, Dasman collaborates with local institutions to strengthen scientific research and improve expertise in Kuwait. To mark World Diabetes Day on November 14, the institute will organize an event at Asima Mall to promote diabetes awareness, conduct medical check-ups and encourage healthy living practices.
