(UPDATE) MANILA, Philippines — Several local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila have suspended face-to-face classes on Monday, November 11, 2024 due to the anticipated impact of severe tropical storm Nika.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration raised wind signal no. 1 of the tropical cyclone in the metropolis as the storm intensified.

This prompted the following cities to suspend in-person classes in public and private schools:

Manila – face-to-face and online classes from kindergarten to high school; face-to-face classes in public colleges and universities

Parañaque City – All levels in public and private schools

The suspension of classes is aimed at ensuring the safety of students, school staff. Authorities advised residents to remain vigilant and monitor updates from local government units and Pagasa.
