FEMA supervisor who said to ‘avoid’ pro-Trump homes speaks out – Washington Examiner

EXCLUSIVE – A report from the beginning of this week showed that a FEMA the supervisor advised his team to “avoid” advertising Florida homes trump card.” That supervisor, Marn’i Washington, says she’s a “scumbag” and that FEMA has made her a “scapegoat.”

Washington told him Washington Examiner that not only did she and her teams create canvas houses with Trump signs, but “we registered and provided resources to Trump supporters.”

The language in the leaked screenshot was “shortening,” according to Washington. She explained the full context: Washington let her supervisors “know certain streets we couldn’t do because of hostile political meetings,” and according to communications obtained by Washington Examinershe was encouraged and supported in her decision to avoid certain streets “to keep the team safe”.

Washington noted that the next point in the leaked message talked about de-escalation, which she said was necessary because “FEMA workers were under threat of life.”

More of these hostile meetings they were documented in the media, but Washington is asking FEMA to “turn over incident reports” showing additional hostilities that led it to avoid certain streets.

The Washington Examiner submitted a request to the Department of Homeland Security to obtain these reports.

“The operating trend of those meetings happened to (be at house which) have Trump campaign signs,” Washington said. “The notice that was leaked had nothing to do with their political position. It was with the safety objective.”

After the bombshell report came out Thursday, Washington said he had “received death threats.” She said “I agree with the whistleblowers. They’re telling you the truth,” but the real problem is that FEMA employees are not being given the resources and protections they need to be able to provide relief to every household.

She said they don’t have a police patrol or a FEMA security team to follow the crews Florida. “What we have is to survive ourselves,” Washington said. “And they’ll tell you, ‘Oh, if you’re in too much of a pickle, call 911.’ That’s why “the first thing (mentioned in the leaked message) is avoidance, and then the next thing is de-escalation.”

Washington noted that a number of homeowners have marked their homes with purple paint to signify that entry to those properties is prohibited, often with additional signs suggesting trespassers will be shot.

“This is Trump’s second time in office, and FEMA has come up with some shenanigans that don’t necessarily agree with American political views,” she said, referring to Hurricane Maria. “Everyone deserves a shot at disaster relief, and he hasn’t found a way (to achieve that) without subjecting his colleagues to hostility. working environments.”

As a result, she says, orders from the top say to “try to avoid (hostile places) at all costs.”

Washington said FEMA told him not to talk to the media and that the government agency would “take care of it.” Instead, she said they “used” her and “used my silence and loyalty to subject me to closer scrutiny and to use me as a scapegoat for what was going on.”

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) said he plans to open an investigation into the report that this FEMA employee blocked disaster relief from supporters of President-elect Donald Trump. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis echoed Scalise, calling for his own state investigation.
