Teenager arrested for robbery at Canandaigua Market, charged with child endangerment

A Hudson teenager has been arrested on charges of third-degree robbery and endangering the welfare of a child following a physical altercation at a Tops Market in Canandaigua. The Ontario Sheriff’s Office reported that 18-year-old Eric A. Henry was arrested Monday night after an alleged attempted robbery in which he allegedly used physical force against the store’s asset protection manager.

Henry, of Hudson, is accused of shoplifting merchandise valued at $41.75 from Tops Market on North Street. According to the authorities, Henry allegedly involved a minor, who chased him away from the scene immediately after the incident.

The juvenile, identified only as under the age of 17, was allegedly asked by Henry to help him escape, leading to the additional charge of endangering the welfare of a child. Law enforcement apprehended Henry later in the day in the parking lot of a commercial area on Commerce Drive in Victor, where he was later apprehended and transported to the Ontario Jail.

Henry remains in custody pending trial through the Ontario Court’s Centralized Adjudication Program.
