How did we rate Georgia football after the loss to Ole Miss from offense to coach?

OXFORD, Miss – Georgia football dropped its second road game this season on Saturday, losing to no. 12 Oh miss in a 28-10 upset.

Bulldogs no. 2 had won 16 in a row before losing at Alabama on Sept. 28 and have now lost two of their last three in their opponent’s home stadium, with the Texas win in between.

Here’s how we graded the Bulldogs:

Crime D

Putting up 245 yards and 10 points doesn’t cut it for a team that gave up 20 to Kentucky and 14 to Oklahoma on the same field this season. Georgia scored five straight possessions in the first half after scoring a TD on a short field.

Defense C

Holding Oh miss 397 yards doesn’t sound too outlandish against a big-play offense, but the defense needed to dig deeper given the offensive struggles. Ole Miss had six passing plays of 20 yards or more.

Special Teams B-

Arian Smith dropped a field goal at the 1-yard line on a play where Brett Thorson had two inside the 20. Georgia misses returner Anthony Evans. Cash Jones couldn’t handle the ball before making a 5-yard return in the first quarter.

Coaching D

Kirby Smart said in his postgame press conference that Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss kept Georgia going. Georgia looked overly conservative on offense in the first half, perhaps concerned about Carson Beck’s recent interceptions.

Overall D

Georgia couldn’t muster more than three points in the second half when it needed to rally. The Bulldogs looked like a team that has been through a tough schedule away from home.
