James Van Der Beek has revealed that he has had another vasectomy his diagnosis of colorectal cancerwhich he announced earlier this week.

“I thought the only way we were going to stop (having children) was if we had a medical intervention,” the 47-year-old father of six noted while speaking with People in an interview published on Saturday.

“I said, listen, guys, you know dad’s having surgery on his private parts, so be really careful when you run over to me that you don’t bump into anything,” he comically recalled.

Van Der Beek acts his children with his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek: Olivia, 14, Joshua, 12, Annabel, 10, Emilia, 8, Gwen, 6, and Jeremiah, 3.

He joked that he and Kimberly “were really bummed” to “not get pregnant” after only planning one of their pregnancies.

“Well, we love having kids, but we haven’t really planned it,” he explained. “One was 100 percent intentional.”

“But thank God, honestly, because it’s such a big fight for people and we don’t take it for granted,” he added. “I joke and laugh, but, yes, I really got lucky like that.”

James and Kimberly have also suffered at least two miscarriages over the years.

He revealed on “Dancing with the Stars” in 2019 that Kimberly had a miscarriage and later revealed to them he had gone through the heartbreaking experience before.

Kimberly, 42, then revealed that she almost lost her life during the miscarriage in 2019.

Continuing his honesty about personal issues with fans, James announced his stage 3 cancer diagnosis on Sunday.

“I’ve been dealing with this diagnosis privately and taking steps to deal with it, with the support of my incredible family,” he said in a statement to People. “There are reasons for optimism and I feel good.”

Hours after his health update, the “Dawson’s Creek” alum hopped on Instagram to tell fans that she planned to wait to share her cancer diagnosis.

“There’s no playbook on how to (announce) these things, but I had planned to talk about it at length with People magazine at some point soon… to raise awareness and tell my story in my own terms,” ​​he captioned a photo montage. Drum.
