Professional chef Jacob Greig – accused of murdering a teenager on a camping trip in Wilton – is accused of making the horrific threat before slashing the 15-year-old with a knife

The man accused of murdering a 15-year-old boy found dead in Bushland allegedly told the teenager “I’m going to cut your bloody hand off” before slashing him with a knife, a court has heard. .

Emergency services rushed to Wilton Park Rd in Wilton about 7.25am on Saturday and found the Picton boy’s body lying in undergrowth adjacent to the road.

Jacob Greig was arrested after going to Narellan police station shortly after 4pm on Saturday following a public appeal for information.

He was charged with murder and refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.

Greig appeared via a live video feed, with three of his family members attending in person.

The court was told the 15-year-old boy tried to open the rear passenger door of a vehicle Greig was in, with video and audio of the incident capturing the teenager saying “I’m trying to get home”.

At one point Greig got out of the vehicle and Magistrate Robert Rabbidge said the footage allegedly captured Greig saying “I’m going to fix you”.

He then allegedly said “I’m going to cut your bloody hand off”, the court was told.

Greig allegedly told police he “cut the victim off before returning to the vehicle”, Mr Rabbidge said.

However, the court was told the footage allegedly showed Greig chasing the victim on foot.

“The facts indicate that the matter prior to the injury … the accused threatened to kill the young man and cut off his hand,” Mr Rabbidge said.

He said the boy was “bleeding profusely” after allegedly being cut with the knife.

“It seems a very strong case, I admit that after I cut the young man with the knife, causing the victim … severe lacerations to his right forearm … the victim begins to bleed profusely,” the magistrate said.

The boy allegedly tried to jump on the car as it drove away, his friends found him dead the next morning.

The court was told a trail of blood was found stretching about 30m towards the end of Wilton Rd.

“Much would depend on the autopsy, which is yet to take place, but I note the facts where it is said that at 7.30 the next morning, the victim’s friends left the camp… they found the (alleged) victim covered in blood. ” said Mr. Rabbidge.

He said it was “nothing more serious than the alleged murder of a 15-year-old”.

“The facts are quite extraordinary and seem to show a considerable amount of strong evidence.

“This is clearly an extraordinary case … Mr Greig is looking at many decades in prison,” the magistrate said of the charges, if proven.

“I must do my duty to the community and refuse him bail.”

Constable McCormack said a bloodstained knife was found in a bin.

“I know the (alleged) victim … was covered in a significant amount of blood in a grassy area,” Mr McCormack told the court, with a trail of blood “extending possibly 30 meters on the road… at the end. from Wilton Park.

Greig’s aunt and two other family members appeared distraught during the proceedings, with the aunt breaking down in tears just outside the courtroom.

Defense lawyer Javid Faiz proposed a term of house arrest, saying the circumstances were “tragic”.

“I respectfully submit this, it’s a tragic incident whatever happened and it’s tragic that it happened to a 15-year-old,” Mr Faiz said.

He questioned whether the cause of death was Greig’s alleged crime, noting that “there was obviously an impact” after the boy jumped into the car, which was being driven by another person.

“We know there’s some blood … about 30 meters from the roadway, we can see there’s blood, it’s just not clear … (if it’s a) result of the laceration or a result of the impact,” Mr Faiz said .

“I propose a condition of house arrest, which means that he cannot leave his residence in the absence of his aunt.”

Greig’s partner is due to give birth in a month, with his partner suffering from conditions including autism and panic disorder.

Greig is employed as a chef at Bargo Sports Bar, while his partner is unemployed.

“The instructions I have been given are that he provides sole care for the family,” Mr Faiz told the court.

“If he is not released today, Your Honor, that family will be affected.”
