A Vietnamese father’s growing suspicion that his teenage daughter bore no resemblance to him or his wife, Hong, led to a shocking revelation: she was not his biological child. His doubts persisted for years, but only after he insisted on a DNA test was the truth confirmed, that Lan, the daughter, was not his biological child.

According to a report by the South China Morning Post (SCMP), the revelation sent shock waves through the family. After learning the results of the DNA test, the father used the news as an accusation, accusing his wife of infidelity – a claim she vehemently denied. The tension in the household escalated, the father turned to excessive drinking and withdrew emotionally from his family. Eventually, Hong, along with Lan, were forced to leave their home and flee to Hanoi to escape the growing turmoil.

The story took an unexpected turn when Lan, while attending a new school, befriended a girl who not only shared his birthday, but was born in the same place. Their bond became so strong that the friend’s mother planned a joint birthday celebration. However, when the friend’s mother saw Lan at the party, she was struck by how much Lan looked like her younger self.

This resemblance prompted the families to request a DNA test, which shockingly revealed that Lan and her friend had been switched at birth.

According to the SCMP report, the discovery has left both families in disbelief, and they are now trying to come to terms with the life-changing revelation. They begin spending time together as they try to figure out how to tell the girls the truth, but are undecided about whether to take legal action against the hospital responsible for the mix-up.

One online commenter compared the situation to a plot twist straight out of a Korean drama, saying, “The story is really thrilling, like the twists of the entry from the Korean TV drama Autumn in My Heart.”
