GENESEE COUNTY, MI – A somber crowd gathered outside the Michigan State Police station in Flint Township on Saturday, voices rising in the cold November air as community members and family supporters mourned the loss of Rayvon Shahid.

Shahid, 17, he was shot dead by soldiers around 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 2 near Essex Street and Pasadena Avenue in Flint, according to Michigan State Police. The soldiers claim that Shahid had a gun in his possession at the time of the encounter and fled from the police.
