PHOENIX (AZ Family) — Two people are fighting for their lives after being hit by a car in Phoenix Saturday morning, and police are searching for the driver involved.

Around 7:45 a.m., Phoenix police were called to a crash near 40th Street and Broadway Road. Details are limited, but police say a vehicle struck a man and woman who were at a bus stop. They were transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police say the driver fled the scene before officers arrived.

The area off Broadway Road is closed near 38th Place and 41st Street as police investigate. There is no estimated time for reopening. Police are advising drivers to use Roeser Road or University Drive.
