right Yemassee Police Department, the monkeys escaped after a new employee accidentally left a door open.

The “very young” female primates, each weighing about 6 to 7 kilograms, are not considered dangerous and are disease-free. However, Alpha Genesis advised the public to avoid their approach.

Residents were urged to keep doors and windows closed and to report any sightings to 911 immediately.

In 2018, Alpha Genesis was fined $12,600 after several primates escaped. Previous escapes include 26 monkeys in 2014 and 19 in 2016.

As of 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, no monkeys had been captured. The Yemassee Police Department said the primates were exhibiting “playful” behavior as they explored the outer perimeter of Alpha Genesis.

Current observations show that the primates are playfully exploring the facility’s perimeter fence, interacting with those still inside by humming.

Alpha Genesis is closely monitoring the situation while maintaining a safe distance at this time.

Primates exhibit calm and playful behavior, which is a positive sign.

We kindly urge the public to stay away from this area as Alpha Genesis works diligently to recover these animals safely and return them unharmed to their habitats.
