A 15-year-old British girl is fighting for her life after a paraglider crashed into her during a family holiday in Turkey.

Lily Nichol, from Durhamshe was having lunch when the freak accident happened on the last day of her holiday.

Witnesses feared the teenager had been killed on impact. A fundraising appeal has now been launched to support his family.

Mum Lyndsey Logan told The Sun she was on holiday with Lily and her older daughter Megan, 19, when the incident happened.

“We were due to fly home at 7.30pm so today we went down for our last lunch together, having good English food,” Ms Logan told the Sun.

“I just remember that Lily was eating, biting into a slice of pizza, and this paraglider came out of nowhere and completely destroyed her across the table.

“She planted the table and we tried to pick it up. She was obviously unconscious and had a stroke while she was down. I thought she was dead.

“So I pulled it, tried it, everybody pulled it back to the side and his eye was cut open.”

The family must pay £7,000 in hospital charges, which could go up and up.

The GoFundMe campaign, which has begun this week, has it has now raised over £6,000.

Mrs Logan added: ‘The hospital told us he had a bleed on the brain. His jaw is broken, but the bone in his jaw is broken.

“Maybe he has a broken back and broken ribs. They noticed that her tongue was also split in half. She is in intensive care at the moment.”

She continued: “I thought she was dead, I thought she was dead, I screamed, I was like where’s the ambulance and I was like ‘Lily keep talking to us, keep talking to us.’

A spokesman for the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said: “We are providing support to a British girl and her family following an accident in Turkey.”
