Devin Lee Styles appeared in Butler County Courts before Judge Charles Hart on Monday, November 4th for his initial hearing. During the hearing he was assigned a cash bond and his next hearing date.

Styles was arrested on Friday, November 1, after attempting to shoot his father with a firearm. His father’s girlfriend was shot in the arm during the incident when she was within shooting range. After Styles fired several shots, neighbors in the area held him down until police arrived to take him into custody. After investigating the scene, the El Dorado Police Department determined that the firearm used was a stolen firearm previously reported to the agency.

During his first appearance, Styles, 18, said he had been unemployed for six months but was still living in El Dorado.

Styles faces four felony and two misdemeanor charges:

Attempted Murder in the 1st Degree, a Level 1 Felony

Aggravated battery, level 4 felony

Aggravated battery, level 5 felony

Aggravated battery, felony level 7 person

Theft, Class A, non-person misdemeanor

Criminal discharge of a firearm, Class C, misdemeanor without person

Styles’ next appearance is scheduled for Monday, December 9 at 2:30 p.m. for a preliminary hearing on the charges. His bail was set at $250,000 cash and no contact with witnesses or victims if released. He is currently being held at the Butler County Adult Detention Center.
