Dianne Buswell’s surprising Strictly hair transformation has turned countless heads – exclusively

Dianne Buswellruby red locks became her trademark during her seven years Strictly Come Dancing but in an exclusive interview with HELLO!the BBC show’s hair designer Lisa Davey revealed that it was one of the professional dancer’s most unexpected hairstyles that turned the most heads.

“She was Baby from Dirty Dancing,” the stylist tells us, recalling Dianne’s salsa hair look on “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” with her famous partner. Bobby Brazier last season.

The Aussie dancer was almost unrecognizable as her crimson locks were hidden under a mass of chin-length brown curls – uber retro!

“It was really last minute because the (original) wig wasn’t very good,” Lisa recalls. “I went in and took this wig out…and it looked incredible. It was so weird because it’s obviously her natural color.

“Her eyes really popped and the amount of comments I had on social media about her in that look, I’d say it was my favorite.”

Dianna’s hair helps her stand out

Although Dianne has rocked a number of different hairstyles and wigs in the BBC ballroom since her debut in 2017, the star’s red colour, which she personally colors at home, remains her staple – Lisa shares why.

“It makes her stand out and there’s no one else with that hair color,” the pro stylist tells us. “Back in the day, we had Aliona (Vilani)… But I think the red was a decision where (Dianne) came into a show where everyone had brown or blonde hair and she stood out and everyone knows her. for her hair”.

Dianne rock updos as well as Hollywood waves

Although the dancer-trained hairstylist is adventurous with her bright tresses (both orange and pink have been in her recent repertoire), Lisa assures us that Dianne is unlikely to say goodbye to her iconic red look anytime soon.

So far this season, the ballroom and Latin star has rocked the Hollywood waves, which Lisa says are Dianna’s favorites, in the Foxtrot with her celebrity partner Chris McCausland to the sleekest low bun for a pro routine to score. Amy DowdenHis highly anticipated return to the ballroom.

From professional dancers with years of playing to celebrity newbies, Lisa says great hair gives performers a serious boost of confidence – something she witnesses in action during her celebrity hair chair classes on a Saturday.

“Some (dancers) come in and are ready for anything. But with other people, it takes me a while to break them down and make them feel comfortable,” explains Lisa.

“It’s a process and it’s so important because it’s a safety blanket – it can make you feel very confident. I always tell people to try and remember that you’re playing a character. If you are that character, then “I will feel more confident.”
