HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) – A woman in her forties remains in critical condition following a hit-and-run Friday night.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:33 p.m. at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Bond Street.

According to the police, patrol units were dispatched to the scene after reports that a vehicle had hit a pedestrian.

Officers arrived to find an unconscious woman lying in the roadway near the eastbound curb of Franklin Avenue.

The victim, who appeared to have sustained serious head injuries, was bleeding from the head.

She was immediately transported by Aetna Ambulance to Hartford Hospital for emergency treatment.

The car involved in the crash fled the scene before police arrived.

Investigators believe the vehicle was a gray SUV.

For now, the victim’s condition remains critical but stable.

Authorities are actively investigating the incident and anyone with information about the hit and run is urged to contact the Hartford Police Department.
