A Dhaka court sent former ministers Rashed Khan Menon and Hasanul Haq Inu and former state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak to jail after their arrest ended in a case filed for the killing of a youth named Emon Hossain Gazi during the mass uprising of August 5.

Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Muhammad Zonaid issued the order today (November 9) after the police produced them before the court after completing their remand.

The order came after Jatrabari police station sub-inspector and investigating officer of the case, Md Mahabul Islam, asked the court to keep them behind bars as further investigations into the murder case continue.

On November 2, Palak, former Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology; Menon, president of the Workers’ Party and former civil aviation minister; and Inu, president of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal and former information minister, have been remanded for seven days in the case.

According to the case details, Emon sustained serious bullet injuries and died on the spot during a student demonstration in Chittagong Road area under Jatrabari police station on August 5.

His brother Anwar Hossain filed the murder case with the Jatrabari police on August 28 against 85 people, including Palak, Menon, Inu and ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

Menon was arrested from Gulshan area of ​​the city on August 22, Inu from Uttara area on August 26 and Palak from Nikunja residential area of ​​Khilkhet on August 14.

Since the arrests, the former ministers and former minister of state have faced non-stop police custody in various cases.
