Kashmiri accused detained arrested in Bhubaneswar, mobile phone sent for forensic examination

In the latest development in the alleged ‘love jihad’ case, the Kashmiri youth, who was detained by the police after a woman filed a complaint that he forced her to convert and marry him, has been arrested Saturday.

According to sources, the accused, identified as Samir Mansoor, was produced before the court after undergoing a medical check-up. The accused’s mobile phone was recovered and sent to a forensic laboratory for examination.

Earlier on Saturday, the police recorded the statement and conducted the medical examination of the victim, who hails from Jagatsinghpur.

The police action came after the victim accused Mansoor of forcing her to convert to her religion and marry him. She had filed a complaint at Mahila police station in Bhubaneswar in this regard.

The man also allegedly threatened the victim to upload videos of their intimate moments on the Internet.

Based on the complaint filed by the victim, the police registered a case and nabbed Mansoor while he was trying to leave Odisha by train. Mansoon claimed that he hails from Bihar and is currently staying in Kashmir.

In the FIR, the woman claimed that she met Mansoor through an online game in 2022 and did not know his religion initially.

“Mansoor forced me to convert my religion and marry him. When I refused to convert, he captured our intimate moments and blackmailed my father,” the woman alleged in her complaint.

The woman’s lawyer, Sanghamitra Rajguru, said she was in love with Mansoor without knowing his real identity and religion.
