Officers responded about 4:45 p.m. to a multi-vehicle collision in the parking lot of A Place to Play Community Park, 2375 West Third St., where about 200 people, mostly families and children, were inside, police said in a statement . press release.

A gray Lexus sedan lost control after driving recklessly and crashed into four parked vehicles, all occupied by parents waiting for their children’s soccer practice to finish, police said.

One of the mothers suffered minor head and shoulder injuries. Medical personnel treated and released her at the scene.

Immediately after the collision, the driver of the Lexus, Angel Uribe, a Santa Rosa resident, allegedly tried to flee on a nearby trail, but bystanders ran after him and physically restrained him until police arrived.

Uribe was on probation for a previous DUI for which he was sentenced in 2023, as well as pretrial supervision for an Aug. 7 DUI arrest.

He was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of DUI causing injury in a collision; DUI collision with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or greater, causing injury; hit-and-run collisions causing injury; providing false identifying information to a peace officer; driving with a suspended license for a previous DUI; and probation violation.

A Sonoma County Superior Court judge approved a higher bond because of the seriousness of the alleged crimes. Uribe is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.
