Butte woman convicted of distributing meth

A Butte woman was sentenced Thursday after admitting possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Jeri Angeline Phillips, 36, of Butte, before pleading guilty to the charges, was arrested multiple times where authorities found large amounts of cash, firearms and drugs.

Phillips was sentenced to 10 years and one month in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

Officials report that they stopped her on three separate occasions when they seized $58,000 in cash with distributed amounts of methamphetamine.

Authorities say he made several trips out of state to resupply, and government officials attribute nearly 25 pounds, or about 94,079 doses, of meth.

The Montana US Attorney’s Office sent the following:

A Butte woman who admitted to distributing methamphetamine after being arrested multiple times and found to be in possession of drugs, large amounts of cash and firearms was sentenced today to 10 years and one month in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, US Attorney Jesse Laslovich said.

The defendant, Jeri Angeline Phillips, 36, pleaded guilty in July to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris presided.

“Phillips is responsible for flooding Butte with a staggering amount of methamphetamine and routinely possessed firearms while dealing drugs. As part of our case, she loses her money, drugs and guns. It is appropriate and necessary that her liberty be forfeited as well,” said US Attorney Laslovich.

The government alleged that between October 2021 and March 2023, officers working with the Drug Enforcement Administration stopped Phillips on three separate occasions and seized a total of approximately $58,000 in cash and distribution amounts of methamphetamine. In addition, law enforcement officers seized a total of five firearms from Phillips’ vehicle and her residence. On one occasion, law enforcement observed Phillips distributing methamphetamine to a customer in Rocker. When law enforcement officers stopped Phillips’ vehicle, they found approximately 85 grams of methamphetamine, approximately $37,000 in cash and a gun in her purse and a digital scale in the trunk. A witness reported that Phillips intended to use the money to buy about 17 pounds of meth from Washington. Law enforcement monitoring Phillips learned that during this time, Phillips had made several out-of-state trips to stock his stash of drugs. The government credited Phillips with approximately 11.8 kilograms, or nearly 25 pounds, and approximately 94,079 doses.

The US Attorney prosecuted the case. The DEA, Montana Highway Patrol and Montana Division of Criminal Investigation led the investigation.
