CNN asks John Bolton for advice on the next Trump adviser

John Boltonwho previously served as of Donald Trump national security adviser, was asked by CNN Friday night if he had any advice for anyone in the same job in the president-elect’s upcoming second term.

Bolton – WHO he was fired by Trump in 2019 and served in every Republican White House through the Reagan administration — offered a thoughtful response.

Just a week after Trump understood The mere sight of Bolton made world leaders shudder at the thought of him turning his homeland into a killing field, with the 75-year-old taking the high road. He told them on CNN Kaitlan Collins a national security adviser must check several important boxes:

Well, I think the first thing is to remember that the national security adviser should do everything he or she can do to put before the president useful decision-making information to make sure the president has the options laid out. in front of him and he can make the best policy selection he wants. And then to make sure that the president’s decisions are followed. If the president doesn’t take your advice, then that’s fine. You are the national security advisor and not the national security decision maker.

But what’s most certainly not your job is to simply say “Yes, sir” when the president says something. You have to do the best you can, and obviously you’re dealing with a human being, but you have to do the best you can to make sure that all the information is available and all the feasible options are presented. If you can’t do that by saying, “Yes, sir,” every time the president speaks, you’re not serving the president, you’re not serving the country.

Although trump card Calling him a “crazy job” and an “imbecile” just a week ago, Bolton put forward any outrage he might have felt towards the former and future commander-in-chief of the country’s armed forces.
