‘No danger to society’: Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ $50m bail bid rejected

In the latest development, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs offers a $50 million bail package and plans to use his Florida mansion that was raided by the FBI; to be released from prison in Brooklyn, where he has been held for eight weeks on sex trafficking charges.

After being denied bail several times because he allegedly tried to tamper with witnesses, Diddy proposed this. His team faced a setback on Friday (November 8) when a judge rejected their request to stop witnesses from appearing in the case, citing the importance of the alleged victims’ right to free speech.

A $50 million bail proposal

Diddy is again trying to get out of jail before his trial next year. He is accused of several serious crimes, including sex trafficking, running illegal business operations and sexual assault. According to USA Today, this time he is offering the same $50 million bail as before, but with some new details to support his case. The money would be secured by the value of two homes in Florida – one belonging to him and one belonging to his mother. This is not his first attempt to get bail – he has been tried and refused before.

In the latest federal court filings, Diddy’s attorneys have some additional conditions to counter claims that he is a flight risk, “insisting that he poses no danger to society.” They claim that the allegations are weak and not as substantial as they have been described so far.

New evidence

Diddy’s defense team presented new evidence they believe undermines the prosecution’s case. Specifically, they challenge the government’s interpretation of a 2016 video showing him hitting his ex-girlfriend, arguing that it was unrelated to any forced “use” incident. The defense argues that this video captures only one moment in a long-term consensual relationship between the two parties.

The defense also argues that the prison conditions Diddy is facing violate his constitutional rights, specifically by impeding his ability to work with his attorneys on his defense case.
