Man shot on MBTA Red Line Broadway station platform

A man was shot on the platform of the MBTA’s Broadway Station early Friday evening and taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to Boston and Transit Police.

Around 5:30 p.m., the Transit Police responded to reports of a person shot at the Red Line Station. Officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body, Transit Police Inspector Richard Sullivan said in an email.

The shooting temporarily shut down the South Boston station while police investigated.

Shuttle buses replaced train service between Park Street and North Quincy, according to the MBTA’s X account.

The shooting remains under investigation.
