Women accused of stealing thousands from Hendersonville seniors

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Two 22-year-old women are accused of stealing thousands from an elderly Hendersonville resident, according to the Hendersonville Police Department.

Police said Thursday that officers responded to a residential burglary alarm and found the home’s back door broken.

The victim reported $7,000 was stolen from an interior safe. Police said surveillance video captured a vehicle near the home around the time of the alleged theft.

The vehicle was found passing a license plate reader in the area before being seen on surveillance video. Police determined the vehicle was owned by 22-year-old America Pena, known to HPD as the caretaker of an elderly resident who had recently moved out of the home.

According to HPD, Pena allegedly confessed to her role in the burglary, as well as a previous theft from the elderly resident while she was caring for them. A second suspect, 22-year-old Annie Saysombath, was also arrested and reportedly confessed to his involvement.

“Both subjects were charged with aggravated burglary, theft of property over $1,000 and vandalism. Pena was also charged with a second count of theft of property over $1000 for the earlier incident,” HPD explained.
