HIBBING – A man is in custody after a road rage incident Thursday that allegedly involved a gun being fired.

Officers were called to the 4200 block of Ninth Avenue West at 1:50 p.m., according to a news release from the Hibbing Police Department. Officers learned that a man in a yellow SUV allegedly held a gun and fired a round into the ground near the driver’s side of a pickup truck.

No injuries were reported. Police searched but were unable to find a suspect.

The public’s help during the investigation led to the identification of a suspect, according to the news release. The man was arrested Friday morning and taken to the Hibbing Jail pending charges by the St. Louis County District Attorney’s Office. Louis.

The Duluth News Tribune typically does not name suspects until they have been formally charged.

Our newsroom occasionally reports articles under a “staff” moniker. Often the designation “staff” is used when rewriting basic news that comes from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and that requires little or no reporting. Sometimes this description is used when a story includes multiple authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If external sources are used, they are noted in the story.
