WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) – A Waterbury man has been arrested in connection with a stolen vehicle case.

Police identified the suspect as Jose Diaz, 25, of Waterbury.

Diaz was arrested following an incident that occurred late Wednesday night.

Police said they found a stolen Audi A5 on Platt Street in the city at around 11.10pm.

The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Sherman.

After seeing the car, they said they saw a man get out and run into a nearby apartment building.

Police said there was a short pursuit that led to Diaz’s arrest.

He was charged with license plate misuse, interfering with an officer, theft of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while suspended.

Police said Diaz has a history of arrests related to stolen vehicles and probation violations.

He was in the custody of the state Department of Corrections on $50,000 bond.
