Kuwait busts four-member sick leave cash counterfeiting gang

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 6: In a significant breakthrough against corruption, the Search and Investigation Department of the General Investigation Department of Residence Affairs has successfully apprehended a four-member gang involved in forging official documents. The operation carried out under the directives of the senior leadership of the Ministry of Interior resulted in the arrest of a Kuwaiti national, two Iranian nationals and a Bedoun.

The gang’s illicit activities centered around the production of fraudulent sick leave certificates. These documents, bearing backdated time stamps, have been approved by a prominent medical center and the Department of Medical Licensing. The suspects would have issued these forged certificates without the physical presence of the patients, in exchange for monetary compensation.

Following thorough surveillance and with the necessary legal authorization from the attorney general’s representative, law enforcement officers conducted a raid. During the operation, authorities seized various counterfeiting tools, including devices and official seals. In addition, suspected narcotics and toxic substances were discovered in the possession of the suspects.

The Ministry of Interior affirmed its unwavering commitment to fighting corruption and maintaining national security. A spokesman underlined the Ministry’s determination to deal firmly with law breakers, underscoring the government’s commitment to protecting the integrity of official processes and protecting society.

All suspects have been referred to the appropriate legal authorities for further action as the investigation continues. This successful operation highlights Kuwait’s ongoing efforts to eliminate corruption and uphold the rule of law
