1 dead, 3 injured in 3-car crash on Garners Ferry Road in Columbia

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) – One person is dead and two are injured following a multi-car crash in Columbia Thursday morning.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) said the crash happened on Garners Ferry Road, about 4 miles south of the city of Columbia.

A 1994 Chevy S10 truck was traveling east on Garners Ferry Road when it slowed to make a U-turn, according to troopers. A 2001 Ford Taurus also traveling east rear-ended the truck, pushing it into the westbound lane.

After the car was pushed into the westbound lane, it was struck by a westbound 2021 Chevy Silverado.

The driver of the Chevy was the only person inside the car and died at the scene, according to SCHP. The driver of the Ford Taurus was taken to Prisma Health Richland for his injuries. There were two people inside the Chevy Silverado, who were also taken to Prisma Health Richland for injuries.

SCHP continues to investigate the incident.
