Racist texts sent to black people in 25 states after election

Some people have a really disgusting sense of humor. This is a hate crime.
“Federal authorities are looking into disturbing and racist text messages sent from unknown numbers to, rather, black Americans in at least ten different states across this country,” Gayle King told CBS Morning.

“Now, many of the messages that have been sent to middle school, high school, and college students refer to slavery. Adriana Diaz has more on this very disturbing story.”

You have been selected to be a slave on the plantation. Be ready on Saturday 9th November at 11am.

“That was the text message Latasha Nelson’s eighth-grade daughter Andriend received while at home in Connecticut.

“My daughter showed me, you know, I was like, wait a minute — I was angry, one, disgusted, two.”

“In at least ten states across the country, CBS News has learned that black Americans have received messages similar to these. And while it varies slightly, many of the messages say “You have been selected to pick cotton or become a slave on a plantation. .'”

“I felt scared, sad, kind of shaken by it.”

“Devereaux Adams lives in Atlanta and is at Western Governors University”.

“If it wasn’t during the election, I probably would have laughed. It hit me differently because of when it happened. and considering I have several friends who got the same message, the exact same tone. Some don’t know how. These people took their first and last names. We know where you live, this is a real threat.

“Students of color at several schools and universities reported receiving the texts, and CBS News verified that the texts were sent from area code numbers in at least 25 different states, some through Text Now, which offers numbers of free phone.

In a statement, Text Now says it became aware that “one or more of our accounts may have been used to send text messages in violation of our terms of service,” adding that it closed the accounts as it became aware .

“Our ancestors died on the plantations and lived lives and parted ways with their children. They didn’t say they were coming to take us all. You’re talking about coming to take my child. take my child away from me to bring it back. to something that’s not legal, it’s never going to happen and how dare you even send it, how dare you even think it would be funny to anyone?

“Just horrible. Our CBS Newsfirm team was able to contact one of the people who sent one of those text messages from an area code in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. That person said the message was a prank before abruptly ending the call.

State and local authorities are investigating.

“We still don’t know how people got these phone numbers and who is behind them. The student in your pack summed it up nicely when he said it will be different after this election,” King said.

“Number one, there’s nothing funny about it. It’s disgusting and scary that they’re being targeted — I have three different people in three states who said, have you heard about this? Here’s what happens. It’s very scary. How do they know the people they’re sending to are black?”

“We don’t know, and that’s one of the scariest things, like you said. It’s got your name on it,” Diaz said.

“Your name, are you black, what city do you live in, because it says in Atlanta to go to the plantation. It brings up a trauma that has been passed down from generation to generation.”

This is truly disgusting and scary. Trump’s election has obviously encouraged this, and we can expect more.
