LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) – Two people are dead after a wrong-way crash Thursday in Lynchburg, according to the Lynchburg Police Department.

Police say officers received multiple reports around 10:30 p.m. of a wrong-way driver traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of US 460 near the Candler’s Mountain Road exit.

The wrong-way vehicle hit another driver head-on, resulting in fatal injuries to both drivers. Both drivers were the only occupants in their cars, according to police.

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating the crash and anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant information is asked to contact the Lynchburg Police Department 911 at (434) 847-1602 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 798-5900.
