Bradford Farrow Medical Center placed in special measures by CQC

A Bradford GP surgery has been removed from special measures after a watchdog found “significant improvements” in the service.

Farrow Medical Centre, which served around 8,600 people in the city, was given an overall rating of ‘inadequate’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in April 2023 after a number of failings were identified.

The regulator raised the centre’s overall score to ‘good’ after re-inspecting the Otley Road operation in July.

Inspectors found the premises to be “clean and tidy” and that infection control measures were to a “high standard”.

The service has taken “appropriate steps” to address previously identified issues, which include concerns about medication management and recruitment checks.

Patient feedback found 72% were positive about the service, the report said, with “less positive responses” related to access to appointments.

Sheila Grant, deputy director of operations for the north side, said: “It was encouraging to see that significant improvements have been made in response to the concerns we raised at our previous inspection.

“We have shared our findings with the practice so they can continue to build on the improvements we have seen and we will continue to monitor them to ensure these changes are sustained over the long term.”
