Next to MA Nishad, Oru Anveshanathinte Thudakkamis a investigative thriller. The film is inspired by the diary musings of his father, PM Kunjumoideen Kutty, a retired DIG. “I grew up in a police environment, so I’m aware of how it works. But we’ve attached officers to help guide us and make sure the investigation looks realistic. There are elements of fiction interwoven with real incidents.

The case the film deals with happens under Crime Kottayam Branch and we will also see how the crime branch works,” says Nishad, who also plays a cop in the film.
The film also has a travel mood, according to him. “There are many locations including Dubai, Punjab, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Tenkasi.”

Shine Tom Chacko plays a journalist on the run. “He did a phenomenal job. I told him that all I wanted from him was this character, Jeevan Thomas, and he was on the right track from day one.”
The cast of the film includes Vani Viswanath, Swasika, Anumol, Sshivada, Durga Krishna, Prashant Alexander and Irshad. Speaking about the ensemble cast, he says, “Even the minor characters have names, identities and introductions. It was a big task during the writing process, but the subject demands it. Of the 102 characters the film has, 62 of them were auditioned by familiar actors.”

Nishad says he was also particular about shooting the investigation scenes realistically. “I wanted to film the part where the forensic experts collect evidence realistically – what they do, how they collect fingerprints, etc. We had a forensic expert and a police officer to help us with that,” he says.

There are three songs in the film and all three, says Nishad, are full of suspense. The film’s music was composed by M Jayachandran. “All the three songs are very important to the film. Also, background score by Manoj Sharrma and sound design by Binoy Benny will be the biggest highlights of our film. Mr. Rajakrishnan did the audiography.”
Oru Anveshanathinte Thudakkam bankrolled by KV Abdul Nazar under Benzy Productions banner is releasing today.
