A man is dead in a drive-by shooting in Glen Burnie Thursday night, officials say.

Police say that on Nov. 7, around 8:20 p.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area of ​​Furnace Branch Road and Margate Drive in Glen Burnie.

Upon arrival, officers say they found an adult male victim, approximately 51 years old, on the ground and an adult male suspect, approximately 23 years old, at the scene.

Firefighters responded and despite their best efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to officials, a preliminary investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from a road rage incident on Route 10.

Police say the suspect and victim stopped at Furnace Branch Road and Margate Drive.

According to officials, it appears the victim came at the suspect with a hammer, but police say they are still working on the details.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office for questioning, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
