Man sentenced to 40 years in prison for theft, burglary

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A Charleston man was sentenced Thursday to 40 years in prison in connection with multiple crimes, the Kanawha County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Prosecutors say Robert Lee Butterworth, 33, received the maximum sentence.

He was convicted of breaking and entering and three counts of grand larceny after pleading guilty in September, according to a release.

Investigators say Butterwoth stole several catalytic converters from across Kanawha County and a 2002 Dodge Ram from Cross Lanes. He also broke into the Airgas property in Charleston, investigators said.

Butterworth was sentenced by Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey.
