Take-Two Boss Not ‘Worried’ About GTA 6 On Xbox Series S

Grand Theft Auto 6 is easily the most anticipated video game release of 2025. The open-world game is likely to push consoles hard, which is why some fans have been nervous about game performance on Xbox Series S. But according to the head of Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive, he’s not worried at all.

Ever since the release of Grand Theft Auto V in 2013, fans have been wondering when the next GTA game would arrive. The hype surrounding GTA 6 has been building steadily for a decade and finally, in late 2023, Rockstar Games released a trailer for the upcoming open-world crime simulator and confirmed a 2025 release window. This was accompanied by news that it was crossing over to older consoles, like the PS4, and it would a current generation exclusivity. But that means it will arrive on the Xbox Series S, which is much weaker than a PS5 Pro or Xbox Series X.

During a Nov. 6 earnings callTake-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked if it would be difficult to run bigger games like GTA 6 on weaker hardware options like the S Series.

“Look, we’re supporting the platforms that consumers are on as long as they’re there, and we’re finding a way to support platforms despite different levels of technology. Our tags are very good at this. I’m not really worried,” Zelnick replied.

Zelnick added that he never worries about how powerful the consoles are or what hardware is available because that’s something he has “no control” over. He also explained that he believes players will “show up” and buy games on any platform as long as you offer “superior” games. The Take-Two boss went on to explain that he sees a lot of value in the PC platform and believes it will continue to grow for Take-Two, although he did not confirm whether a PC port of GTA 6 is in the cards.

“So the bottom line is that we’re selective about the platforms we support,” Zelnick said. “We make the technology work when we can make it work as long as the audience is large enough to make it worthwhile.”

According to Take-Two’s latest financial report to investors, GTA 6 will still arrive in the fall of 2025, as the company previously confirmed in May. The game will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, and yes, Xbox Series S.
