Can Trump keep his promise on benefits taxes?

President-elect Donald Trump promised retirees during the campaign: no taxes on Social Security benefits.

Now that Trump has won a second term as president, that could lead Social Security recipients to wonder if that change could happen anytime soon.

However, any change to Social Security would require at least 60 votes in the Senate, and Republicans would need Democratic support to pass it.

Google is seeing an increase in “moving to Canada” searches.

Google says searches for “moving to Canada” saw a 5,000% increase on election night.

Canada was not the only destination, however; Ireland, New Zealand and the UK were among other popular destinations.

Canadian-related searches began to rise after polls closed in the battleground states of Georgia and North Carolina and continued to rise sharply before peaking Wednesday morning.

Walmart is considering insuring more items to prevent shoplifting

Walmart can lock multiple items to prevent shoplifting.

Bloomberg says Walmart is testing new in-store technology that would allow customers to unlock security covers directly from their smartphones. Workers at select locations are currently testing the technology, with plans to expand it to loyal members if the trial proves successful.

Indiana has lower home prices than other states

Indiana’s median home price is still on the less expensive side, at least compared to other states.

Visual Capitalist says the median price in Indiana is $238,000. The national median home price is $385,000.

Factors such as local demand, land availability, economic conditions and housing regulations contribute to average home prices in each state.

Some boomers are avoiding retirement by working from home

Not-for-profit firm Smart Energy GB recently surveyed 2,000 Britons and found that almost 70% of over-60s are currently working in hybrid roles. The rest managed to keep the pandemic habit of working from home every day.
