The person who died in a crash on the M6 ​​was a 50-year-old lorry driver, police have confirmed.




The M6 ​​was closed for almost 24 hours between junctions 32 and 33 after a northbound lorry entered the southbound carriageway, overturning in the process and colliding with oncoming traffic.

The incident happened at around 11.20am yesterday (November 6), with the M6 ​​southbound still closed for roadworks.

Police said yesterday that one person had died in the crash, and it is now confirmed that that person was the driver of the truck, a man in his 50s.

Two other people, the driver of a Ford Transit, a man in his 40s, and the driver of a Suzuki Swift, a woman in her 40s, suffered serious injuries.

A police spokesman said: “We are continuing to appeal for witnesses following a collision on the M6.

“Our thoughts are with everyone affected at this time.

“Two lanes of the northbound carriageway are now open and one remains closed. The southbound carriageway remains fully closed for surface repairs, so please check before you travel as various diversions are in place.”
