DULUTH — The Duluth Police Department is asking for the public’s help in investigating two home burglaries in the Chester Park neighborhood that resulted in injuries to the occupants.

In a news release, the police department said it believes the incidents are random acts involving the same male suspect, but also believes the incidents may be related. Both incidents occurred between 6-8 p.m., and the initial investigation indicates that an individual, described as a white male, entered both residences and made threats to the occupants inside.

The first incident occurred Monday when officers responded to the 200 block of West Kent Road for a report of a burglary. One resident was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

On Tuesday, the Police responded to a report of another burglary, this one in the area of Vermilion Road no. 1500. The two residents were also transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police did not say what kind of injuries occurred or the condition of the victims. No further information is available at this time as the incidents remain under investigation.

The police department asks that anyone with information regarding these incidents or has any surveillance video to call DPD’s Violent Crimes Unit at 218-730-5050. An anonymous tip can be sent by texting the keyword “DPDTIP” and the tip to 847411. Police also encourage the community to remain cautious and vigilant, reminding citizens that if you see something, say something.

Our newsroom occasionally reports articles under the name “staff”. Often the designation “staff” is used when rewriting basic news that comes from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and that requires little or no reporting. Sometimes this description is used when a story includes multiple authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If external sources are used, they are noted in the story.
