Topeka driver suffers life-threatening injuries in rear-end collision on I-70

BONNER SPRINGS, Kan. (KCTV) – A Topeka driver is fighting for his life in a Kansas City hospital after following another vehicle too closely on I-70 and causing a rear-end collision.

The Kansas Highway Patrol indicates that just before 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, emergency crews were called to the area of ​​westbound I-70 and Highway 7 in Bonner Springs to reports of a two-vehicle collision.

When first responders arrived, they said they found Sean Medford, 28, of Topeka, who had been eastbound on I-70 but was following too closely a 2016 Mercedes E350 driven by by Manreet Singh, 45, of Shawnee.

Investigators observed Medford drive into the back of Singh’s sedan, causing it to hit the median barrier. Medford, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was taken to University of Kansas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Emergency crews said Singh was not taken to a nearby hospital but suffered suspected minor injuries as a result of the crash, during which he was wearing a seat belt. No other information has been released.
