Contractor charged with fraud after failing to complete work

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — A Grand Rapids contractor has been charged for failing to complete work he was paid for in Ottawa County.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) says a resident filed a report in July 2023 alleging he commissioned Blackstone Partners LLC for a construction project that was never completed.

We were told that several subcontractors also provided services to the company, but were never paid in full.

Blackstone Partners owner Wesley Pawloski, 30, was indicted in August 2024 on three counts of contractor fraud, deputies say.

A month later, investigators say they discovered Pawloski was still taking payments for the projects through a business under a different name: Designed Construction LLC. Those projects were also never completed, OCSO says.

Deputies say customers were defrauded out of more than $100,000, prompting another contractor fraud charge issued by the county attorney.

Pawloski was arrested on Oct. 29 and arraigned on Oct. 30 and Nov. 5 on the new charge, according to the sheriff’s office. He posted his $50,000 bond and was released from custody.

Investigators contacted West Michigan law enforcement agencies after other victims were identified.

Those with knowledge related to the case are encouraged to contact OCSO. Tips can be submitted anonymously to Silent Observer at 1-877-88-SILENT.
