Man arrested after assaulting two people in Bolton

BOLTON, CT (WFSB) – A man was arrested after assaulting two people in Bolton Tuesday night.

State police say around 9:07 p.m., troopers responded to a residence in the city on a report of a domestic disturbance.

One of the victims had met troopers outside when they arrived and reported that Ryan Tomel, 35, was intoxicated and had assaulted them and another family member in the home, who was in age.

The first victim said they escaped and hid in the woods until troopers arrived.

They also said Tomel lost control while intoxicated and began punching the victims in the head and upper body, as well as kicking them. He also threatened to shoot the two victims.

Tomel then struck the elderly victim with a cane, causing her to bend over.

One of the victims told troopers there was an active order of protection between them and Tomel, with the first victim being protected.

The soldiers then surrounded the residence and tried to get him to come out. He came out of the house, but then refused to cooperate with authorities.

A taser was used on Tomel twice, the second time incapacitating him. He was then taken into custody.

He was hit with a slew of charges, including 3rd degree assault on an elderly victim and 2nd degree menacing.

He is being held on $200,000 bail and appeared in Rockville Superior Court on Wednesday.
