On Tuesday, Netanyahu announced that he had fired Gallant, replacing him with Foreign Minister Israel Katz.

“In the midst of a war, more than ever, full trust is required between the prime minister and the defense minister,” Netanyahu said of his move, noting that a “crisis of confidence” had emerged between him and the defense minister.

Gallant, however, claimed in his speech on Tuesday that he was fired because of his opposition to the kindergarten bill, Netanyahu’s refusal to reach a hostage deal and form a National Commission of Inquiry into the events from October 7.
