Emergency crews are at the scene of a crash on Deerfoot Trail that has shut down the northbound lanes of the freeway near 16 Avenue NE

Officials say the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway.

As of 7:30 a.m., police closed a section of Deerfoot Trail because of the collision.

Authorities said a truck overturned at the scene and one person was taken to the hospital.

It is not known how long the highway will remain closed.
