Dignity of CM office, a symbol of Karnataka sovereignty being diminished: BJP

State BJP president BY Vijayendra has alleged that the dignity of the Chief Minister’s office, a symbol of Karnataka sovereignty, is being diminished as CM Siddaramaiah faces a Lokayukta inquiry in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case.

CM Siddaramaiah on Wednesday appeared before the SP Mysuru Lokayukta for inquiry in the MUDA case in which he is named as prime accused.

Vijayendra said on Wednesday, “Accused number one, Mr. CM Siddaramaiah, the entire country is witnessing the notoriety you have earned as a corrupt Chief Minister who is clinging to this position while facing an investigation.”

“In the Assembly, you ran away from a discussion on your own infamous MUDA scam and now you are talking about corruption like a demon preaching the Bhagavad Gita,” Vijayendra charged.

“Your family is accused of defrauding an innocent Dalit family to acquire land and this land was misused by MUDA to acquire 14 lots as per the ongoing investigation against you,” he criticized.

“If you did nothing wrong and if you were going to get 62 million rupees as claimed, why did you hastily return the MUDA lands overnight without conditions? If you are so clean, why are you refusing a transparent investigation and instead defending corruption? It’s really harsh to hear words like ‘honesty’ from someone who has trashed morality,” said Vijayendra.

“The governor has granted permission to prosecute you on these charges. You appealed, only for the High Court to dismiss it; the people’s court has directed the Lokayukta to lodge an FIR against you and an inquiry is underway in the Lokayukta,” he stated.

Having doubts about how far your subordinate officers would go in your investigation, a writ petition has been filed in the High Court seeking an order for a CBI probe, which is under review, he noted.

“You who challenged Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an open debate should first try to win against the legal battle of a common citizen petitioner Snehamayi Krishna and then talk about corruption,” he commented Vijayendra.

“Concentrate on cleaning the stain from your own reputation as the dignity of the office of Chief Minister, a symbol of Karnataka sovereignty, is being diminished daily by your behaviour,” Vijayendra argued.

“The court has already ruled that the allegations you made against me are baseless,” Vijayendra said. “As a lawyer, seeing you repeatedly bring up these matters suggests a lack of sound judgment on your part. It seems that the grip of the law has disturbed the peace, sending you into a state of deep agitation and you keep repeating these false allegations as if out of desperation,” he said.

“Your government has all the power to conduct a speedy investigation to substantiate any allegations against us, but your situation of renouncing the dignity of the Prime Minister’s Office to use such trivial allegations as election propaganda is laughable,” he charged.
