Mumbai traffic control room receives yet another message threatening Salman Khan | news from mumbai

MUMBAI: The Mumbai traffic control unit on Tuesday received yet another message threatening to kill actor Salman Khan. This is the second such message received by the traffic police control room in the last 10 days.

The latest message sent on WhatsApp read, “If Salman Khan wants to stay alive, he should go to a temple (Bishnoi community temple in Rajasthan) and apologize to the community or pay. 5 crores. If he doesn’t do the same, we’ll remove him. The Bishnoi gang is still active.”

Karnataka police have arrested a 35-year-old man in Bengaluru based on information provided by Mumbai police in connection with Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s death threat case registered at Worli police station. Police said the person was detained and was doing welding work. Further questioning takes place. The Mumbai Police team is on its way to Karnataka to take custody of the accused. “It doesn’t seem serious. The exact reason will be clear once we get the custody of the accused and interrogate him,” the senior officer said.

Police officials said the sender of the message claimed to be the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and insisted that the actor either visit a temple and apologize for killing a black buck (which is revered by the Bishnoi community in Rajasthan) or pay 5 crores. Police said the number is not local and they are trying to identify and trace the sender.

The Worli police have registered a case against the unknown sender under section 308(4) (putting or attempting to put a person in fear of death or grievous hurt to that person or any other person to commit extortion) and 351(3 ) (criminal intimidation by threat of death or grievous hurt to a person) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The police traced the location of the sender to Karnataka, but the probe hit a snag as the sender used a virtual private network to send the message, making it difficult for them to trace the origin of the message. Police said they have sent a team to Karnataka and cyber experts are trying to get the exact location of the sender. The police will soon get the person, said a senior officer who is part of the investigation.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up for the actor. “This does not appear to be too serious, but we cannot take such a threat lightly,” said a senior police officer. A team of crime branch officers are working with cyber experts to trace the sender of the latest message. “We are also checking whether the message was really related to the Bishnoi gang or someone sent it just for fun,” the officer added.

Last week, the traffic police received a similar message, threatening the actor with dire consequences if he failed to comply with the sender’s request to 2 crores. On October 30, the Worli police identified the sender of the message as Azam Mohammed Mustafa, a resident of Bandra East, and arrested him.
