This team has survived almost everything. They recovered from a Goff-ian slump in the middle of a game; have recovered from season injury; they recovered from the crippling weight of hype and now they recovered after their second best defensive player was thrown out of a game because the NFL likes to look like a good babysitter when the parents are watching . They won in countless ways. They know who they are from a deeply personal place and are not afraid to be those people. It’s pretty fun to watch it all happen.

Okay, so Amon-Ra’s hoodie St. Brown wasn’t pretty, but it’s hard to dislike these Lions, who mixed an Us Against the World attitude with Dan Campbell’s Mensa Meathead schtick with a scary offense to make magic. The Lions lead the league in scoring (32.25) and rank fifth in scoring defense (18.5). Over the last six games, Detroit has more touchdowns (28) than incompletions (24).

This is the best team in the NFC because Jared Goff continues to play flawless football. Does the ball ever hit the ground when he throws it these days?

Jared Goff has the highest completion percentage (82.8%) and highest passer rating (140.1) of any six-game stretch in NFL history. The fact that he kept that hot streak going outdoors in a rainstorm in Green Bay is impressive. If the Lions get the top seed in the NFC, Goff will get MVP votes.

The Lions have one loss, but that’s ancient history. They have won six consecutive contests. They are also the league’s most dominant team thus far, as evidenced by their plus-110 point differential.

During their winning streak, the Lions are outscoring their opponents by an average of three scores per contest. Goff is dealing. His relationship with the receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is stunning. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs is a big play waiting to happen. The offensive line is the best in the league. Defense has game factors. Detroit is truly a complete team.

There is no replacement for injured DE Aidan Hutchinson. But will the NFC leaders add someone, perhaps DE Za’Darius Smith, as a temporary patch before the deadline? However, it may not matter much given how well this multi-faceted offense is clicking. QB Jared Goff and WR Amon-Ra St. The Browns haven’t had a missed connection since Week 3, connecting on 30 consecutive targets — tied for the longest streak by any drive since 2016.
